FAQs

Questions about registration, showcases, volunteering, background checks and more.  Updated for Spring 2022

How do I register my player?

Visit TRSLL.com and select “Login” or “Register” to log in or create your account. From there, complete your player’s info and select a division within the Spring 2022 program and pay online. There is no separate “registration” for showcase, you just need to show up.

I don’t know what age group to register my child in, what should I do?

Register your child for the division that the website suggests, which is based on the player’s league age (see league age chart). If you have questions or are concerned about which division your player needs to be placed in, please speak with a coach or board member at the showcase or email us at [email protected].

Can I register for the season at Showcase?

You can, but it’s really helpful if you can register online beforehand. At the showcase, we’ll ask you to register online if you haven’t already.

We can’t be there right at the start time, is it OK to arrive late?

If you need to arrive a little late, that’s ok, and the coaches can spend some time with your child at the end of the showcase if needed. Out of respect for the coaches and volunteers, please arrive as soon as you can so they can finish up on time.

We can’t make either of those times, so what do we do?

If you can’t make either showcase dates, email [email protected] with the subject line “Showcase Absence”, and we will reach out about an alternate time to see your child’s skill level, if possible. Players are put on teams soon after showcases are over, so please get in touch as soon as you know you can’t make it.

What do we bring to showcase?

All your player really needs is to show up ready to play with a globe and water to drink. Cleats, bats, helmets or other gear, if you have them, are encouraged. If you don’t have gear yet, check out the equipment exchange table to find what you need!

Do we need to wear masks or social distance?

We do not require masks at this time, but we strongly encourage masks and social distancing. We encourage everyone to show kindness and respect for others and to stay home if feeling sick. In general, we are required to follow the City of Tempe’s guidelines because we use their baseball fields. Given the changing nature of the situation with the pandemic, we may adjust the mask requirements if needed.

I know Tempe Rio Salado Little League is run by volunteers, and I’d like to help out, but I don’t have a lot of time/can’t be at every practice/don’t know much about baseball… Do you still need me?

Absolutely! We are always in need of volunteers, whether it is coaches, assistant coaches, team parent helpers, scorekeepers, pitch counters or helpers for events like Opening Day. Go to TRSLL.com and log in to your account (where you registered your child for the season). If another person registered your child, you will need to create your own account. In the Menu/Sidebar select Volunteer. Click the button (upper right) for Find Volunteer Roles. Select one of the volunteer opportunities (select General if you don’t know). Click the Continue Button (lower right). The next page will ask about contact info and background questions. The rules of the Little League International require that all volunteers have a background check yearly. All background checks are done through a reputable company selected by Little League International. That’s it! If you have issues, let us know in person or by email at [email protected].

The background check is kind of stressing me out – tell me more.

A criminal background check is required by Little League International for all volunteers. It is free, secure, private and completed by JDP, a professional background check company. Results of the background check are submitted to the league Safety Officer, however, none of your private information such as social security number are stored or shown to league representatives.

The background items that exclude a person from volunteering are crimes against minors, sex crimes, violent crimes, etc. Most misdemeanors will not exclude a person from volunteering unless it would affect the safety of the children or resources of the league. If you have more questions, email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to address your concerns. The process is quick and easy, it’s required, and it helps keep our kids safe.

Other questions?

Email [email protected] or talk to one of the volunteer coaches or board members at showcase.
